Firefighters spent extended time in north Greenwood County battling a stubborn grass fire Tuesday.
Greenwood County Dispatch says crews were toned out to 370th Street and Y-25 Street about two miles east of Madison shortly after 12:30 pm. Firefighters had the blaze briefly under control before 4 pm, but the fire rekindled shortly afterward and firefighters didn’t clear the scene until 6:20 pm.
The fire burned at least 120 acres, according to Greenwood County Fire Chief Glen Collinge. The cause is undetermined. There are no reports of injuries.
Madison and Lamont fire crews helped to get the fire out.
