Road improvement projects in Lyon and Coffey counties are moving forward, thanks to bid approvals from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Lyon County’s project involves pavement marking on Interstate 35 from just east of the Kansas Turnpike’s Emporia exit to the East US Highway 50 exit, or nearly six miles. RoadSafe Traffic Systems of Chicago won the project with a $370,000 bid.
Coffey County had two projects approved. The first involves a milling and overlay on US Highway 75 from the Woodson County line north of the Kansas Highway 58 north junction, or four miles. Bettis Asphalt of Topeka secured the project by bidding almost $775,000.
The other Coffey County project is a bridge repair on Interstate 35 over US Highway 75, or 12 miles east of the Lyon-Coffey county line. PCI Roads of Saint Michael, Minnesota, won the project with a nearly $84,000 bid.
Construction timetables for these projects have not been announced.
