The Red Rocks State Historic Site will be hosting its latest special program this weekend.
The eighth installment in the site’s “robust” list of activities will feature a conversation with Sallie Moss Lindsay White, the wife of William Allen White. The role of Sallie will be played by Barbara Fowler who will be taking visitors back to the year 1919.
Red Rocks Spokesman Roger Heineken says the time period is notable as it comes before many of the well-known tragedies and successes that befell the White family. Heineken adds the program centers specifically on Sallie White who did not have as notable a public persona as her husband, but who, according to Heineken, was a major driving force behind his success.
Given the variety of topics that have been discussed just this summer, KVOE asked Heineken during a recent interview on KVOE’s Morning Show if they were “running out of ideas” for programming. Heineken responded by saying William Allen White, and the White family in general, is the “gift that just keeps on giving.”
Sunday’s presentation will take place on the porch of Red Rocks from 2 pm to 3 pm and is free to attend. For more information find Red Rocks State Historic Site on Facebook.
