Lyon County deputies now say only one person needed medical treatment at a hospital after a wreck west of Emporia before sunrise Saturday.
Deputy Brandon Early says the crash was reported shortly before 6:10 am at US Highway 50 and Road D, two miles west of Emporia’s western city limits. Early says 57-year-old Julie McAllister of Nickerson was eastbound when her car hit a deer. All airbags deployed due to the force of impact.
A passenger, 51-year-old Gina Franz of Hutchinson, was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Early says she suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Emporia Fire says both Franz and McAllister had minor injuries after the crash, and Early says both were wearing seatbelts as the wreck happened.
Emporia Fire has said both went to the hospital for treatment.

Two people were transported for medical observation and possible treatment following a crash west of Emporia early Saturday.
The crash was reported at US Highway 50 and Road D around 6:15 am. Names have not been announced, but Emporia Fire says both patients had minor injuries. Both were taken to Newman Regional Health.
