Home sales dipped from both the prior month and the prior year, both in Emporia and Lyon County.
Sunflower Association of Realtors says August had 30 homes sold in Emporia, down from 45 in July and 33 in August 2022. Homes sold last month were also on the market for a bit longer than in recent past — 10 days on average instead of five in July — and the median sale price was just under $157,000, down from the $195,000 median sale price from a year ago.
So far this year, Emporia is at 280 home sales, down from 312 last year and almost 350 from two years ago.
Greater Lyon County outside the Emporia city limits had 25 homes sold last month, down from 29 a year ago and 39 in July. Homes also sold with 10 days of listing and the median sale price dipped from $186,000 a year ago to $130,000 last month.
Year-to-date, Lyon County has had 235 homes sold. That’s down from 272 last year and 293 in 2021.
