Emporia’s Community Art Alliance is now accepting proposals for future art projects across the Emporia community.
The alliance announced recently it has created a project proposal application that will allow community members to submit their public art piece ideas. Visit Emporia Director Lelan Dains says this is the next step in expanding the alliance’s mission to support local artists and their visions.
Dains says there is currently no limit on the dollars available to support proposed projects, however, the alliance is asking for some form of investment from the project manager or property owners.
The alliance will review all submissions and will make decisions based on three pieces of criteria, artistic merit, feasibility and alignment with the city’s values and identity. Projects selected by the alliance will receive various resources to help make the project a reality including funding and “logistical assistance.”
