New hearing dates have not been announced, but the criminal case is apparently moving forward against an Emporia man arrested in Wichita on suspicion of child rape.
The Kansas District Court Public Access Portal says prosecutors have filed a motion this week to endorse an additional witness as the case develops against John Robert Burton. This follows a listed arraignment hearing Aug. 31.
Burton currently faces two counts, one of rape and one of aggravated indecent liberties, both involving an alleged victim under the age of 14. The criminal complaint and affidavit, or law enforcement narrative, are both sealed.
Burton was arrested on South Emporia Street in Wichita in late June. Emporia Police have helped Wichita Police with the investigation into this case.
