Coffey County authorities have a suspect in custody related to a recent post office burglary.
According to Lauren Hull of the Coffey County Sheriff’s Office, the burglary occurred at the Gridley Post Office in the late evening hours Monday. Following an investigation into the incident, authorities arrested an individual believed to have been involved, however, further details, including the name of the suspect, when and where they were apprehended and a list of potential charges have not been announced.
A news release from the sheriff’s office says some items were recovered during the investigation. Residents who were expecting packages at the Gridley Post Office who have yet to receive them should contact the Sheriff’s Office and ask for Lt. Detective Garn Honn or Deputy Sam Frantz.
Also, if you mailed any payments or submitted outgoing mail between last Friday and Monday, the Sheriff’s Office is encouraging you to contact the intended recipient to ensure they received those items. Those who may have concerns about recently mailed payments for standard monthly bills should contact their utility company directly.
