Emporia High School is set to have brand new scoreboards and a video board inside Spartan Gymnasium.
The USD 253 Board of Education voted unanimously to purchase two new scoreboards and a video board for the main gym during their regular board meeting on Wednesday. The purchase price of the project is $134,814.
Emporia High Athletic Director Beau Welch secured funding for the project and reached out to local businesses for sponsorship opportunities. Welch says once discussions began about the project in March, community members didn’t hesitate getting involved.
Welch did give a timetable on when the new scoreboards and video board will be installed.
