The Salvation Army of Emporia and Emporia’s Radio Stations are gearing up for the annual Drive For Food next month.
During an interview on KVOE’s Morning Show Thursday, Salvation Army Captain Mylie Hadden expressed her gratitude to both KVOE and the Emporia community for assisting with the food drive each year. She says it is “an important and needed event” that helps the army’s food pantry meet the demands of the community year after year.
When asked what the current state of the food pantry is, Captain Hadden says the shelves are looking “a little bare” and they are in need of just about anything and everything with a few exceptions.
This year’s Drive for Food will take place on October 19 and will once again feature several community drop-off points for donations. Drop-off locations will be announced on KVOE’s website KVOE.com in the coming weeks.
As always, residents can leave donations on their front porches or driveways for pickup by KVOE staffers the day of the drive. For more information stay tuned to KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
