Suicide Prevention Month continues with two major community events through Beacon For Hope this weekend.
The Hope Links Us Together Suicide Prevention Walk takes place from 10 am to 2 pm at Soden’s Grove. Beacon Director Melissa Owen says it’s the first time the walk has been on the schedule since 2019. She calls the event a day of “hope and healing.”
The walk is free, but registration is requested, either on the Beacon For Hope Facebook page or Eventbrite.com in advance or in person Saturday morning.
Following the walk is the debut of the “Stronger than the Storm” docuseries, the result of conversations between Owen and KVOE’s Tagan Trahoon. The docuseries features the stories of 10 community members who have battled mental health concerns and thoughts of suicide. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion involving several of the participants.
