The Las Casitas Association had its first Fiesta at Las Casitas Park in eight years this weekend.
Starting with a parade from Riverside Elementary to the park, activities then included food, a car show, music, dancing, contests and pinatas. Organizer and KVOE Nuestra Musica radio show host Vic Rodriguez says the association heard a lot of requests for a revived festival. He also says the association has been been active in the local Hispanic community behind the scenes the past few years — and the association has plans for more improvements at Las Casitas Park.
Activities Saturday highlight both Hispanic Heritage Month, now underway through Oct. 15, and Mexican Independence Day.
