Lyon County fire crews handled a grass fire northeast of Emporia on Saturday.
Miller and Reading firefighters were dispatched to a small fire on the Kansas Turnpike near mile marker 152, 25 miles northeast of Emporia and five miles northeast of the Admire-Council Grove exit, after 5 pm. The fire was small and Reading crews were canceled before arriving. A cause is pending.
A reported grass fire on Interstate 35 near the Burlingame Road exit was a controlled burn.
