There isn’t a good chance of storms for Saturday afternoon and evening, but the chance exists — as does a marginal severe weather risk for half the KVOE listening area.
The National Weather Service has expanded the marginal risk area to go along and north of a line from Delavan to Emporia to New Strawn. Storms are possible areawide, but this area could see wind gusts of up to 60 mph and hail to the size of quarters.
Storms should leave the area or dissipate before midnight.

9 am Saturday: Rain chance Saturday night sets up unsettled pattern for much of next week
Area residents got rainfall Friday into Saturday. They just didn’t get a lot of it.
Showers and sprinkles developed by mid-evening Friday and continued overnight. The KVOE studios got 0.10 inches of rainfall. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.07 inches
*1100 block Constitution: 0.15 inches
*10th and Weaver: 0.10 inches
*South and Sylvan: 0.10 inches
Most of Saturday should be dry, although fog could persist through late morning. A low-level chance of showers and storms develops by evening, and there is a marginal risk for severe weather — borderline severe hail and wind — affecting Coffey and Osage counties into early Sunday.
The forecast calls for dry conditions and seasonal temperatures Sunday and Monday, but an unsettled weather pattern is currently expected beginning Tuesday and continuing for the rest of the work week.
