A preliminary hearing is coming in Lyon County District Court as part of a revived aggravated robbery case against one of two defendants.
Keno Emmanuel Hopkins, age 22, has been charged with single counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, vehicular burglary and theft after an alleged shooting incident at Emporia’s Eastgate Apartment complex in July 2022. Hopkins was originally charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and burglary shortly after the alleged incident, but Judge Doug Jones dismissed the charges this past December, citing lack of probable cause.
Hopkins is accused of taking a cell phone and/or keys from Harold Stewart Jr as part of the incident. Stewart was shot but survived.
Co-defendant Shedrick Williams has a pretrial hearing Dec. 7. He’s charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and burglary.
