Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has landed a historic payday after restructuring his contract. Mahomes will be paid $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the richest deal over a four-year period in NFL history, all guaranteed. It’s part of the 10-year extension worth $450 million Mahomes signed in the summer of 2020 that made him the league’s highest-paid player. Despite that, several quarterbacks had passed Mahomes in per year earnings leaving him eighth in his position. The restructuring will average Mahomes $52.6 million per year over the next four years, in line with recent deals signed by Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, & Lamar Jackson. The 28-year old Mahomes has led the Chiefs to two Super Bowl championships and been named Super Bowl MVP in both games. Mahomes’ contract runs through 2031.
