A rich 100 years of history will be celebrated Saturday as Broadview Towers marks one century of operation.
Activities at Broadview go from 10 am-2 pm, including refreshments, an opening of the service elevator, special announcements and more. Virtually half of the building’s life has been spent as a senior living facility. On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Board President Don Eusey said that reflects the foresight of building administrators and city leaders in the mid-1970s.
The Broadview was first a hotel, built at the site of the Whitley Hotel that was destroyed by fire. It has also served as the first home of KVOE’s predecessor, KTSW, from 1939-1951 — and its current role as senior living. During World War II, the building also was a lookout for Russian warplanes.
