The stakes were high for eight local food trucks Saturday at Flinthills Mall for its fall food truck rally.
Community members got an opportunity to taste a variety of food the event offered and vote for their favorite. A judge’s favorite was also decided on.
Lazy Butt BBQ owner Karl Baker has been a part of Food-a-Palooza for several years and has won the patrons’ vote on multiple occasions. Baker says he’s a competitor at heart and wants to enter any competition available.
Poppin 4 U 2 Kettle Corn owner Ronnie Bell has been a part of Food-a-Palooza for several years. Bell says Emporia is becoming a stable of food trucks wanting to come to town.
Lazy Butt BBQ was the winner of the People’s Choice and received a cash prize and a trophy. FHTC Fusion was the Judge’s Choice
Even with the event being a competition, Mall Marketing Manager Heather Siebert says the biggest part is getting people involved.
