Since the fall version of Sundays at the Site began nearly 20 years ago, one constant on the schedule has been Poetry on the Porch. And that event closed down the fall schedule Sunday.
Once again, Emporia State professor Kevin Rabas organized the event, setting up an open mic opportunity for those attending and inviting Pittsburg State professor Laura Lee Washburn to the porch. Rabas tells KVOE News the event is in important way to connect people on and off campus.
Washburn recently published a new book through Emporia’s Meadowlark Press, “The Book of Stolen Images.” She tells KVOE News poetry is a way to demonstrate “our lives matter.”
Red Rocks is now gearing up for activities connected to the William Allen White Book Awards at Emporia State University early next month. It’s also getting ready for holiday activities in November and December.
