For the past six months, organizers have been brainstorming for Para to Salud, Emporia’s Hispanic-centered health fair. The event was held Sunday, and organizers are pleased with the information that was available.
Nearly 20 physical health organizations, mental health and wellness organizations were on hand. Organizer and spokesperson Yahaida Ibarra tells KVOE News it was important to have as many organizations on hand as possible, all with information readily available in Spanish for those attending to take home.
Ibarra says the impetus was Welcoming America, a nonprofit organization designed to build inclusive, welcoming communities, and the need for health information became readily apparent. More information about Welcoming America is available online at KVOE.com.
