Now that CareArc has announced its drive-thru flu shot clinics, one for Emporia and one for Eureka, a question for some area residents is when the latest COVID-19 booster vaccine is on the way.
In general terms, CareArc nurse McKayla Ortiz says the answer is relatively soon….just not yet.
COVID is no longer a reportable illness, so official tracking is no longer possible. However, Ortiz says there have been more confirmed cases and more requests for at-home tests.
For influenza, CareArc’s annual drive-thru flu shot clinic for Emporia will be Oct. 6, while the clinic in Eureka will be Oct. 13. Insurance cards or $30, payable by cash or check, are needed for the vaccinations. No appointments are needed, although the shots are for people ages six months and older.
Coffey County has flu shot clinics at county fire stations between Wednesday and Oct. 18. The Greenwood County Health Department has a drive-thru flu shot clinic from 3-4:30 pm Oct. 2 in front of the Health Department building in Eureka. Residents are asked to bring their insurance cards. The Morris County Health Department has a drive-thru clinic from 1-4 pm Sept. 27 at the Health Department parking lot in Council Grove. Drive-thru dates are pending for Chase, Osage and Wabaunsee counties.
