Residents wanting to learn more about emergency dispatch operations can sign up for Lyon County’s first Citizens 911 Academy.
Activities will be from 6-9 pm Nov. 15-16 at the Emporia Police Department. Participants can learn about different things that happen during shifts, explore current technology and “see if they have what it takes to answer the call.”
Applications for the first 20 class members will be open until Oct. 9. More than half the slots have already been claimed. Dinner both nights and a T-shirt will be provided to all taking part.
