The Emporia State University Office of International Education is asking local residents to open their homes to a group of students set to make a trip from Denmark to Emporia very soon.
A contingent of Danish high school students will be coming to ESU from October 3 through October 11 according to Dean of International Education Mark Dailey. The weeklong trip will provide insight into what life is like on campus and hopefully spark a desire for them to return as full ESU students in the future.
With that in mind, Dailey tells KVOE News they are in need of host families to house the students during the duration of their stay in Emporia. Dailey tells KVOE News the Danish students are highly independent, respectful and very busy with their list of activities over the week of their stay.
With that in mind, he says opening your home to a student is a great opportunity to learn about them without having to make any tremendous alterations to your own schedule.
Dailey adds this is just the first of two contingents of students scheduled to come through Emporia over the course of the fall semester. The next group of students will be arriving on October 15 and departing October 21.
Host families are also needed for that trip and if you are interested in being a host family or would like more information, contact Jess Brinkman by calling 620-341-5376 or email Jmccauls@Emporia.edu.
