Authorities are investigating after a non-injury plane crash in far west Morris County on Thursday.
Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol say the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office got a report of a damaged plane at Herington Regional Airport, although nobody was reportedly around the plane and first responders didn’t find a pilot or any other occupants.
The crash log later reported two people on board — the pilot, 58-year-old James Robertson of Cullman, Alabama, as well as a pilot trainee, 38-year-old Andrew Kopec of Tuttle, Oklahoma. Troopers say the plane was apparently trying to land when the landing gear failed due to unknown issues.
