Child support guidelines may lead to significantly higher payments in Kansas by January 2024, and the state Supreme Court is asking for public input on the changes.
Proposed updates to Kansas Child Support Guidelines could increase payment obligations by almost 9 percent across all income groups starting in January. Child support guidelines, which lead to payments for housing, clothes, transportation, recreation, health care, childcare and other expenses, are reviewed every four years by a 13-member advisory board to make sure the roughly $35 million in payments made annually are “fair and appropriate” for daily needs.
The committee has been into its regular review period since June 2022.
An online survey is available through Oct. 29.
