Our recent spate of hot conditions led to one new record high temperature and one tied high.
Friday’s high got to 95, slightly below the projected 97-degree temperature but still enough to erase the prior daily record of 94 degrees set in 2002. Saturday’s high of 93 matched the high temperature set in 1952.
Wind speeds will be light Sunday and Monday with highs in the low 90s before a good chance of showers and storms by Tuesday night.

Hot conditions Friday led to record temperatures for the Emporia Municipal Airport, and a repeat is still possible Saturday.

Breezy conditions, including southerly gusts as high as 30 mph, are expected again Saturday after winds gusted between 30-40 mph Friday. Wind speeds will be light Sunday and Monday with highs in the low 90s before a good chance of showers and storms by Tuesday night.
