As electric vehicles gain more popularity, Evergy is reminding business owners and others about several incentives for installing charging stations.
Businesses planning to install 10 so-called Level 2 ports for employees can get rebates of up to $25,000 per site, but those must be preapproved projects for new equipment.
Businesses looking to electrify their fleets can qualify for up to $65,000 if they install 10 Level-2 ports and two Direct Current Fast Charging ports. Projects need to be preapproved. Locations also must have at least two company electric vehicles in use to support business operations and chargers cannot be used by the public or employee-owned vehicles.
Property owners looking to add charging stations for tenants can get up to $25,000 if they add 10 Level 2 ports.
Public EV charging areas can also qualify for rebates. Highway sites, or locations within a mile of a highway intersection, can qualify for up to $45,000 in rebates — but at least two Direct Current Fast Charging ports must be added. Non-highway locations can add two Direct Current Fast Charging ports and up to six Level 2 ports to qualify for $55,000 in rebates.
Evergy says the rebates are in place to help reduce upfront installation costs for the charging equipment. Click here for more information.
