Three different Lady Hornets scored in the first half and the Emporia State soccer team picked up their second straight victory with a 3-0 shutout of Rogers State on Sunday at Emporia High School. ESU didn’t take long to take the lead as Angela Palmer put the Hornets up for good just 49 seconds into the match on an assist by Hanna Woolery. Palmer later assisted on the match’s second goal 10 minutes later by Mackenzie Dimarco. Just before halftime, Haley Sparks connected for her first goal of the year on a feed by Paige Putter. ESU moves to 3-4-3 on the season, 2-1 in the MIAA. Head coach Bryan Sailer says a formational change has helped the team.
Palmer said the team is feeling confident after a 2-0 weekend.
The Lady Hornets return to action on the road Friday at Northwest Missouri. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
