October is an important month for SOS, and it is encouraging residents to get involved in its activities connected to Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Community Relations Director Cara Codney, a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday, says SOS is busy helping people get clear of domestic violence.
There are three sets of activities this month, including a special memorial event at noon Wednesday at C of E Park. Codney says it’s designed to honor and remember people who have bene affected, hurt by or killed as a result of interpersonal violence.
On Oct. 19, SOS is offering domestic violence community education and training seminars at no charge to those attending. The seminars, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, will be at the Flint Hills Technical College main campus.
Also, SOS has reserved Oct. 24-25 for outreach information sessions geared towards the area’s Latinx community. A new Spanish-language public service announcement will also be part of those sessions.
More information is available about all three events at soskansas.com or SOS social media.
