The Cut is two weeks out, and Flint Hills Technical College is in full preparation mode for its annual cooking competition.
Vice President of Advancement Mike Crouch says it’s a must-see event.
This is the seventh installment of The Cut, which is set for 6-9 pm Oct. 19. Four student chefs will try their hand at creating an appetizer, entree and dessert made from baskets of mystery ingredients. One chef will be “cut” until a champion is crowned.
Besides highlighting the college’s Culinary Arts department and recent renovations, The Cut also highlights the Multimedia Design program that’s responsible for filming the event for the viewing audience. It also raises money for the Wrangler Relief Fund, benefiting students in emergency situations, and The Cut will also generate funds for students to attend Skills USA competitions elsewhere across Kansas.
Tickets are $30 and are available online at fhtc.edu/foundation or by calling 620-341-1380. Attendees will gather under the large outdoor tent outside the Flint Hills Technical College’s main Metcalf Building.
Radius Brewing is the presenting sponsor, with other sponsor support from Do-B’s, Leffler Prime Performance, the Emporia Sertoma Club, Gufler Mansion and KVOE. Alumni and Annual Fund Coordinator Amy Hall will have more information on Monday’s Newsmaker segment at 7:20 am.
