Welch Stadium was awash in color and sound for Emporia State’s annual Marching Festival.
Over 15 bands performed, including the Emporia High Spartan Pride Band that received an Excellent or 2 rating for its “Best Served Cold” show. Also, the Waverly Junior-Senior High Band did the festival’s first Friday Night Lights exhibition as part of the event.
Spring Hill won the Sweepstakes Award. Independence was noted for Outstanding Color Guard and Auxiliary. Mill Valley had Outstanding Percussion and Drumline. Nora Ide and Kimree Elton of Spring Hill were named Outstanding Drum Majors.
