The Emporia High football team was shutout in a game for the first time in nearly two years.
Wichita East racked up 539 yards of total offense in a 76-0 shutout over the Spartans Friday afternoon at Wichita East High School. Emporia High was last shut out in the regular season finale in 2021 at Manhattan.
The Blue Aces led 21-0 after the first quarter and 55-0 at halftime.
The second half was a running clock with the Spartans’ only opportunity to score coming late in the third quarter.
Emporia High was held to 61 yards of total offense.
Coach Kaden Glinsmann says the Spartans dealt with adversity well even with a rare afternoon kickoff.
Emporia High is now 0-6 on the season. They’ll host Washburn Rural next Friday for Senior Night next Friday at Welch Stadium
