The second annual Empovia event is coming up Saturday with a few new additions.
Empovia is the local take on a traditional Spanish event known as a Ciclovia. Ciclovia’s involve closing a network of streets to motorized vehicles to encourage and celebrate highlights “human-powered movement.”
Throughout the day residents will be encouraged to bike, skate, walk and run throughout Peter Pan Park. Dains says movement activities are just the tip of the iceberg as they have several performances lined up along with the addition of the Tianguis open-air market.
Empovia will take place from 8 am to 2 pm. The event is free to attend and will be completely closed to auto traffic and pets.
