The Emporia State volleyball team battled back to force a fifth set but #22 UCO dominated the final period in a 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 21-25, 15-4 victory over the Lady Hornets at Hamilton Field House in Edmond, Okla. Friday night. ESU started slow offensively with 11 errors against nine kills while hitting negative in the first set. The Hornets warmed up offensively in the third and hit over .340 in the third and fourth frames, but UCO dominated the fifth with 10 kills and no attack errors to stave off the comeback effort. Sandora Sasaki pulled off a rare 20-20 game with 23 kills to lead all attackers and a team-high 20 digs. Tasiah Nunnery, who had been working at libero, stepped into an offensive role with 16 kills and hit .326 in the match while Brailey Bogle tallied a match-high 52 assists. The Lady Hornets drop to 7-8 overall and 1-6 in the conference. ESU returns to action Saturday and will try to end a six-match losing streak at Pittsburg State. First serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
