It was a back-and-forth affair against Lyndon and Chase County that saw Lyndon come away victorious 38-34, spoiling Homecoming for Chase County.
Chase County had several big plays in the first quarter, where they led 20-8 behind touchdowns from Wyatt Griffin to Micah Cauthers in the air, along with a rushing touchdown from Griffin.
Tanner Heckel scored his first touchdown to bring the score to 20-14 at the half.
Heckel would score three times in the third as Chase County and Lyndon would trade blows throughout the quarters.
Brock Griffin added a 74-yard scoring run, along with another passing touchdown from Wyatt Griffin to Tag Groh. That score gave Chase County the lead 34-32 with 1:05 remaining in the third quarter.
Lyndon relied heavily on their Seniors Heckel and Jalen Massey to take 5 minutes off the clock, concluding with a Heckel touchdown giving Lyndon the lead 38-34 with 8:08 remaining.
Chase County’s ensuing drive would stall out at their own 25, giving the ball back to Lyndon with 5:27 remaining in the game. That would be the last time Chase County would have the ball, as Lyndon was able to get several key first downs to end the game.
Heckel finished with 230 yards on the ground with 5 scores and 46 yards through the air. Massey finished with 143 yards and one score.
Chase County was led in defeat by Wyatt Griffin that passed for 240 yards for three scores, along with one rushing touchdown. Brock Griffin, who was crowned King in pregame, added 108 yards and one score.
Lyndon (6-0) faces Maranatha Academy next week, while Chase County (4-2) looks to regroup against Cair Paravel.
