Several law enforcement and fire departments across the KVOE listening area will receive grant money for equipment and other needs after an announcement by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly on Friday.
The area list includes:
*Hartford-Neosho Fire: $14,713
*Olpe Fire: $14,558
*Council Grove Fire: $18,083
*Chase County Fire: $28,800
Specifics have not been announced. Governor Kelly says the funds can be used for emergency response equipment upgrades, updates to communication systems and updates to or replacements of unsafe or damaged wildland firefighting equipment.
Over $6.2 million is involved with this grant. Money comes from the Strengthening People Revitalizing Kansas, or SPARK, program as funded through the federal American Rescue Plan, or ARPA.
