A week after extradition proceedings officially began in Lyon County District Court, official criminal charges are still pending against Phillip Lieurance in Colorado.
Lieurance remains jailed in Kansas and has not been transferred to Colorado to appear before a judge to solidify charges against him there after the apparent homicides of Linda Estrada and Amy Ford last month. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says formal charges will remain pending until he goes before a judge — which is important because the fugutive case in Lyon County lists charges as Class 2 murder and tampering with a deceased human body.
Lieurance’s next hearing in the fugitive case is on Halloween.
Lieurance, 35, was already being held in jail locally after allegedly using his SUV to ram at least one other vehicle on the Kansas Turnpike before crashing near the Emporia service area. He faces 13 counts in that case and will return to court Nov. 29 as those proceedings continue.
