Car enthusiasts gathered for Hope With Horsepower Saturday at Soden’s Grove.
The event had a car show, music, food, and a raffle to help benefit Veteran Suicide Prevention.
Beacon for Hope Executive Director Melissa Owen says with Emporia being the founding city of Veterans Day, she wanted to do an event that highlights veterans.
Owen says the event has grown from year one to year two and that it’s not just a gathering of local community members, but from across the state.
Rob Goodrich of Topeka showed off his 2012 GT500 Shelby to the show. Goodrich says he’s fortunate to make the short trip to support a good cause.
Shawn Sweat of LaCrosse ventured to the eastern part of the state to show off his replica of a 1966 AC Cobra. Sweat says this event is unique to any other car show he’s been a part of.
Fundraising totals are pending.
