The Emporia Municipal Airport welcomed both interested residents and pilots from across the state as part of the Fly Kansas Air Tour on Saturday.
Airporrt Assistant Manager Julian Seaman called the facility “Emporia’s welcoming mat,” and he says events like this are good for the public to see.
Residents had a chance to chat with pilots about their planes during the hour-long stop. Emporia was one of 11 locations on the tour.
Up next — possibly — is STOL drag racing, which stands for short takeoff and landing. Coming soon is another round of improvements, such as replacing the taxiway lighting system and expanding the ramp.
