The USD 253 Board of Education may consider closing a building that houses classrooms for the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative Elementary Connections program as part of their regular meeting Wednesday evening.
Superintendent Allison Anderson Harder will propose the closure of Kansas Avenue, 315 South Market, which provides two classrooms for the cooperative. The proposal comes with the impending move of Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness to its new location after winter break.
If the board approves the proposal a public hearing will then be scheduled for the matter later this month. In other business, board members will receive the latest student academic achievement report, a construction update from McCownGordon and will hold one executive session for confidential student information.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm at the Emporia High library, following the board’s annual meeting with the Emporia High Student Council.
