A Wichita woman was hurt in a crash north of Admire on Tuesday morning.
Lyon County Deputy Brandon Early says the crash in the 3700 block of Kansas Highway 99 was reported shortly after 9:30 am. The driver, 21-year-old Merlyn Carranza Hernandez, was southbound when she went into the west ditch, overcorrected and then went across the highway into the east ditch. Her car rolled an unknown number of times and stopped in a wooded area.
Hernandez was not wearing her seatbelt. An ambulance took her to Newman Regional Health with undetermined injuries.
It’s not clear why Hernandez crashed. Lyon County deputies are investigating.
Noon Tuesday: Person hospitalized after north Lyon County wreck
One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after an injury crash was reported north of Admire on Tuesday.
The wreck was reported around 9:40 am at the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 370, nearly 20 miles north of Emporia. A woman was hospitalized. All other details are currently pending.
9:35 am Tuesday: Reported injury crash noted in north Lyon County
Lyon County deputies and emergency responders have been dispatched to a reported injury crash in the north part of the county.
Deputies, Emporia Fire and Allen-Admire were sent to the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 370, nearly 20 miles north of Emporia, shortly before 9:45 am. Details have not been confirmed.
