After a process that dragged on for years, KU finally has resolution from the NCAA’s Independent Accountability Review Process (IARP) after their final findings were announced on Wednesday. The IARP announced that the severity of the allegations had been downgraded from five Level I allegations to Level II allegations. Sports Illustrated reports that the Independent Resolution Panel gave Kansas three years of probation with no effect on the program’s postseason eligibility and no vacation of wins. Head coach Bill Self, who initially faced a Level I violation and served a school-imposed four-game suspension last year received a Level III violation and no further penalties. Assistant coach Kurtis Townsend, who also served a school-imposed four-game ban had his violations downgraded from Level I to one Level II and one Level III violation and also faces no additional penalties. KU opens the season in exhibition play October 29th at Illinois.
