Economic development is the general theme of Wednesday’s special meeting for Emporia city commissioners.
The board will discuss Emporia Main Street’s application for what’s called a Hope 6 grant for property improvements at 502 Commercial. The $500,000 grant would include $25,000 in equity from the developer, Ben Moore of 502 Lofts LLC, if approved by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Separately, commissioners will discuss an agreement about distributing Tax Increment Financing and Community Improvement District revenue for Emporia Pavilions at 24th and Industrial Road. Funds from these designations go to the developer, while the city receives a 3-percent administrative fee for reimbursements.
The meeting begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room.
