Trial ended Friday with a guilty verdict for a man originally accused of attempted murder from an incident almost a year ago.
A jury found Logan Casteel guilty of single counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and aggravated battery following three days of testimony and several hours of deliberation Friday. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered before his sentencing hearing scheduled for November 29 at 11 am.
Casteel was convicted after shooting Justin Smith during an incident just southwest of Emporia in October 2022.
