Emporia High sophomore Kali Keough is onto the semifinals at the Class 5A state tennis tournament in Salina.
Keough, the six-seed, opened up with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Julia Judkins of Kapaun Mt. Carmel. Keough rallied in the quarterfinals to defeat Jensen Gibbs of Blue Valley Southwest, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Keough avenged an earlier season loss to Gibbs, who defeated Keough, 8-6, at Spring Hill on September 7.
Keough will play Jette Glasenapp of Shawnee Heights in the semifinals to begin play on Saturday. Keough will place no lower than fourth. Glasenapp defeated Keough in the Emporia Invitational on August 31st.
