Car collectors from across the community gathered at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church for a car show benefiting Corky’s Cupboard on Saturday.
Participants could donate food or monies as an entry fee and show off their classic vehicles.
Social Innovation Director Melissa Owen says one of their missions is food insecurity. Owen says there have been times when people have been in a situation where they can’t afford food.
Owen says college students attending Emporia State have multiple resources they can go to if they are in a tight scenario with food and money.
St Mark’s Pastor Kent Happel says car collectors from across the community like to come out and show their cars off and benefit a great cause.
Mark Shook participated in the car show showing off his 1967 Chevy Nova. Shook, a regular at local car shows, says this is not the first time he’s been a part of an event where there’s been multiple options for donations.
KVOE’s Drive for Food is set for Thursday. Salvation Army Captain Mylie Hadden and Spartan Stop Coordinator Heather Wagner will join the KVOE Morning Show at 8:20 a.m. Monday.
