Emporia’s Street Cats Club brought a spooktacular new signature event to the Emporia calendar Friday night.
The organization hosted its inaugural Black Cat Ball at the Emporia Granada Theatre featuring music, food, haunted tours, tarot readings, a VIP experience, a Halloween costume contest and much more. Street Cats Club founder Victoria Partridge says in addition to the format of the event, the fundraiser was made all the more unique in that it was less of a fundraising event and more of a celebration of their various donors as the majority of fundraising was complete in advance of the ball ever getting underway.
Also adding to the uniqueness of the event was that it was held on Friday the 13th. When asked if this was done intentionally, Partridge responded saying it was “a perfect alignment.”
This is the second large event held by the organization this year following Lolapalooza which took place back in July. With Street Cats Club still being a young organization, currently in its fourth year of existence, Partridge says having a diverse portfolio of events is important for future growth and sustainability.
Proceeds from recent fundraising will go to support continued services through the organization including its TNR — Trap Neuter and Release — program. As of October, Patridge tells KVOE News the organization has managed to provide TNR services to right around 600 local feral cats, more than double the 2022 total of 200.
