Several updates are coming as part of the Emporia Recreation Commission board’s monthly meeting Monday.
The biggest update involves conversations from city leaders about the Rec Commission’s recommendation for a recreation center either expanding or replacing the current Lee Beran Recreation Center at 313 West Fourth. The Rec Commission has proposed a sales tax increase to fund the project, and board members have said the current facility has less than half the space needed to meet current and future demand.
Board members will get two additional updates, one on interest rates for investing employee retention tax credit funds and another on the installation process for the new GolfZone simulator.
Board memers will also discuss the Class 1A Division II state volleyball tournament, specifications for upcoming pickup purchases and leadership team reports.
Monday’s meeting starts at 5:30 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
