Emporia High will be a busy place this weekend.
In addition to sports events and the second day of the Emporia High theater department’s pre-Halloween show, student Jayda Rightmire has organized a clothing fair Saturday morning after collecting a range of items this month.
Activities go from 8 am to noon in the front parking lot.
Rightmire will stop collecting clothes Friday, including blankets and shoes. To donate, find Rightmire on social media.
Rightmire says this event follows the closing of a friend’s clothing store, and the friend — Amanda Nuckolls — asked her for ideas to distribute the clothes. Rightmire suggested a clothing giveaway and plans developed from there. Rightmire also says a lot of people struggle to afford clothes, so an event like this will help to address those needs.
