Emporia State University has chosen three alums as Outstanding Recent Graduates for 2023.
Lizeth Magana received her bachelor’s degree in science with a major in physics and a minor in math in 2016. She is now a planetary research scientist at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
Han Yan, a resident of Easton, Connecticut, received a master of arts in English and a master of business administration in accounting from ESU in 2013. Yan is now an accounting professor at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut after holding auditor positions at the University of Kansas and at Myers and Stauffer, as well as working as a tax counselor for AARP.
Kevin Yarnell of Hyde Park, New York, got a master’s degree in health, physical education and recreation. In addition to being an education at an elementary school in Rhinebeck, New York, Yarnell has been vitally involved in raising funds in conjunction with the American Heart Association.
Nominees must have earned a degree from Emporia State within the last 10 years.
Awards will be presented at the Black & Gold Gala on oct. 27 during Homecoming weekend.
